Best Things to do in Copenhagen with Kids
As we know, there are many things to do in Copenhagen, but some of them are very special and joyful for kids. Your kids can learn art and other creative things at the National Museum of Denmark. They feel secure while roaming all around the city. It’s a city that offers many things to do for kids, even more than the things to do in Paris and other popular European destinations. During my family trip to Copenhagen, I observed many things that make the kids happy. Following are the best things to do in Copenhagen with Kids, based on my personal experience:
1- Enjoy a Walking Tour
Kids love strolling through the streets of every new place, and Copenhagen attracts them with its charm, playful areas, lush green parks, and canals. Some tour companies like “Scandi Kids Tours” offer walking tours specially crafted for kids. My kids really enjoyed the walking tour of the city and learned many historical and cultural facts about it. In short, a walking tour of the city makes the trip full of fun and information. Keep in mind that most of the tour companies offer city tours for kids between 6 and 12 years old.
2- Cycling in the City
Copenhagen’s Cycle Lane system makes it the best city for cyclists. Locals also prefer to perform their routine work on cycles. Getting a bicycle on rent is very easy in Copenhagen. It would be a great idea to offer your kids an opportunity to explore the city on a cycle. Most of the tourist attractions are close to each other and easily accessible by bicycle.
We travelled by cycle with the kids, and honestly speaking, it’s safe and time-saving. My kids enjoyed sightseeing while getting from one tourist attraction to another on a bike. So, must enjoy cycling in Copenhagen with your kids for a wonderful experience.
3- Explore the City by Boat

Boating is a favorite of my kids, and we couldn’t leave Copenhagen without enjoying it. So, we booked a boat and discovered how beautiful Copenhagen looks from the water. An audio guide was also available that informed us about the historical places and tourist attractions we were passing through. You can rent a private boat, but we recommend you to join a guided tour to explore the city in its true meaning. Must include a boat tour in your list of things to do in Copenhagen with kids.
4- Enjoy a Ride on the Hop on Hop off Bus
Sightseeing from the Hop on Hop off bus is always enjoyed by kids, and Copenhagen also offers this opportunity to them. These buses operate on different routes in the city and offer you to explore the city within an hour. A good thing is that you can leave the bus at a station, and then get into the next bus after exploring the nearby areas. To explore the city by a hop-on on hop-off bus, you need to buy a pass that is valid for 24 hours.
These buses are a favorite for people of all ages, including kids. My little girl insisted on another ride on a hop-on, hop-off bus because she enjoyed it a lot. It should be a must-include activity in your things to do in Copenhagen with kids list.
5- Enjoy a Seaplane Tour
Must enjoy a seaplane tour in Copenhagen with your kids if your budget is high. Although we didn’t experience Copenhagen’s seaplane tour as we did in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, but saw many tourists enjoying the seaplane tour with kids. Their kids were excited to enjoy a ride on a seaplane. Unluckily, we were short of time, otherwise, we would have made a seaplane ride with our kids.

Copenhagen’s zoo is one of the best zoos in Europe and a top place to visit for families and kids. More than 4000 animals are living in the zoo, belonging to different species. These animals are brought from all around the world to be displayed and teach you about global wildlife. Kids always feel happy and excited to see something new in nature. Is Copenhagen safe to travel with kids?
There are many beautiful destinations in Europe where you can go with your family, but Copenhagen is the safest among them. Exploring Paris with kids is also not a bad option, but there are many more things to do in Copenhagen with kids. Separate walkways, bike lanes, an impressive public transport and security system make the city the safest to travel with kids. Some hotels in Copenhagen offer special accommodation to tourists with toddlers. You can easily find and book a hotel in Copenhagen that offers special accommodation for people with kids.
My personal experience with safety in Copenhagen isn’t bad, but be aware of local teenagers who can be found showing bravery on the streets late at night.
